Gausprand 1 was bishop of Pistoria ("Gausprandus, episcopus ecclesiae Pistoriensis"); in 844 he was one of the Italian bishops who attended the Council of Rome with Drogo 1; they had not been sent by their metropolitans but went because they had criticisms against pope Sergius II (Sergios 60): Lib. Pont. 104. 14. His name suggests that he was of Lombard descent. Pistoria (Pistoia) was in Tuscia et Umbria.
