Eustathios 45 was basilikos spatharios and domestikos of the Optimatoi; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: DOSeals III 71.7 = Zacos and Veglery 1898. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Ευσταθ. - ιω β' σπαθ και δο - μεστικ' τ'ν Ο - πτηματ'. The name and titles read: Εὐσταθίῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ δομεστίκῳ τῶν Ὀπτιμάτων. On the reading of the first title, correcting Zacos and Veglery, see W.
