Zacos, G. and Veglery, A., Byzantine Lead Seals, vol. I (in 3 parts) (Basel, 1972).

Euphemianos 3 was the owner of numerous seals from different points in his career; they are dateable between the middle of the eighth century and the middle of the ninth.

Basilikos spatharios and droungarios of the Aigaion Pelagos: DOSeals II 40.7a-e = Zacos and Veglery 1887a-c (all from the same boulloterion). Obv.: cruciform monogram of Κύριε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Ευφιμι - ανο β' σπα - θ' και δρουγ - γ' του Εγι - ου Πελ'. The name and titles read: Εὐφημιανῷ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ δρουγγαρίῳ τοῦ Αἰγαίου Πελάγους.

Basilikos protospatharios and droungarios of the basilikon ploïmon: Zacos and Veglery 1885. The name and titles read: Εὐφημιανῷ βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ δρουγγαρίῳ τοῦ θεοφυλάκτου βασιλικοῦ πλοΐμου.

Basilikos protospatharios and strategos of Hellas: DOSeals II 8.44a-x (a-c = Zacos and Veglery 1886a-c) (twenty-four seals in various states of preservation, all from the same boulloterion). The text reads: Κύριε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Εὐφιμιανο β[ασιλικῷ] πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατιγῷ Ἑλάδος.

He then added the title of patrikios to his other titles and became patrikios, basilikos protospatharios and strategos of Hellas: DOSeals II 8.43a-m (j = Zacos and Veglery 1884a; a = Zacos and Veglery 1884c; b = Zacos and Veglery 1884d) (Θεοτόκε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Εὐφημιανῷ πατρικίῳ β[ασιλικῷ] πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ Ἑλλάδος) (from one boulloterion) and (from another) DOSeals II 8.43n (= Zacos and Veglery 1884b) (Θεοτόκε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Εὐφημιανῷ πατρικίῳ β[ασιλικῷ] πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ Ἑλλάδος).

The chronological sequence is clearly indicated by the hierarchy of his titles. The editors of DOSeals II (Nesbitt and Oikonomides) raise doubts about the identification of the strategos of Hellas with the droungarios of the ploimon.
