Eudokia 5 was the wife of Theodoros 176, mother of Nikephoros 2 (patriarch of Constantinople; she came of a well known family (ἐξ εὐπατρίδων καὶ περιωνύμων): Synax. Eccl. Const. 723. Wife of Theodoros 176 and mother of Nikephoros 2 and of other sons: Ignatius, Vita Niceph., p. 142 (Θεοδώρῳ γὰρ Εὐδοκία πρὸς γαμικὴν συνάφειαν ὁμιλήσασα τὸν ἀληθῶς εὐδόκιμον καὶ θεοδώρητον Νικηφόρον ἐβλάστησε). She accompanied her husband each time he was sent into exile and shared his sufferings: Ignatius, Vita Niceph., pp. 143-144. After the death of her husband she lived with her son, Nikephoros 2 (αὕτη μετὰ τὴν τοῦ συνοίκου μακαρίαν τελείωσιν ἐφ' ἱκανὸν χρόνον τῷ παιδὶ συμβιώσασα): Ignatius, Vita Niceph., p. 144. Her son was born at Constantinople, probably in 758.
