Epiphanios 38 was hypatos, basilikos (?proto)spatharios and droungarios; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 1873. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - δου - λω - σου in the corners. Rev.: cruciform monogram of Επιφανιω υπατω, with βα - σπ - (καὶ) δ - ρου in the corners. The name and titles read: Ἐπιφανίῳ ὑπάτῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ δρουγγαρίῳ. The letter α of the title could perhaps be read as the abbreviation for πρωτο rather than the second letter of βασιλικῷ.
