Epiphanios 1 was bishop of Euchaita in Helenopontus; in 681 he attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) and was present at the last nine sessions (sessions ten to eighteen, from 18 March to 16 September): Riedinger, pp. 282-825 (= Mansi XI 389-673). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, he is styled Ἐπιφάνιος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος τῆς Εὐχαϊτηνῶν πόλεως τῆς Ἑλενοποντίων : Riedinger, p. 786, line 11, cf. p. 894, line 5 (= Mansi XI 645, cf. 693). In the lists of those attending each session he is styled Ἐπιφανίου ἐπισκόπου Εὐχαΐτων: Riedinger, p. 282, line 4, p. 404, line 19, etc. (= Mansi XI 389, 457, etc.). He was among the signatories to the copy of the definition of the faith sent to the bishop of Rome, Agatho 1: Riedinger, p. 894, line 5 (= Mansi XI 693). Still bishop of Euchaita in 692, he attended the Quinisext Council at Constantinople and signed the canons: Ohme, Bischofsliste, p. 151, no. 52 (= Mansi XI 992) (Ἐπιφάνιος ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος Εὐχαΐτων τοῦ Ἑλενοπόντου).
