Eirene 8 was the owner of a quiet suburban villa in Thrace not very far from Constantinople (οὐ πόρρω τοῦ ἄστεος πρὸς τὰ Θρᾳκῳα μέρη ἥσυχον πανὺ κεκτημένη προάστειον); she gave it as a place of refuge to Nicholas the Stoudite (Nikolaos 26) when he was a fugitive during the persecution of iconophiles under the emperor Theophilos 5; the property, known as Phirmoupolis, was later given by him to the Stoudite monastery (as a metochion): Vita Nic. Stud. 901A-B.
