Textual SourcesVita Macarii Pelecetae, by Sabas (BHG 1003), ed. J. van den Gheyn, "S. Macarii Monasterii Pelecetes Hegumeni, Acta Graeca", Anal. Boll. 16 (1897), pp. 142-163 (hagiography)

Dorotheos 8 was a deacon in the monastery of Pelekete (in Bithynia) when Makarios 9 was hegoumenos (Δωροθεός τις τοὔνομα, ἀνὴρ τὸ τηνικαῦτα πρὸς ἀξίαν τῇ τῶν διακόνων λειτουργῶν τάξει, πρὸς οἷς ἡ τῶν ἱερῶν σκευῶν φυλακὴ καθέστηκεν); after miraculously healing a paralysed boy, Makarios 9 gave Dorotheos 8 the boy's metal supports, to store as a reminder; they were still at the monastery when Sabas 11 was writing the Life of Makarios 9: Acta S. Macarii 8, p. 151, lines 20-24. Possibly identical with the monk Dorotheos who at the time of Makarios 9's death was with Sabas 11 his leading disciple on Aphousia (τοῖς προεστῶσι τῶν μαθητῶν Δωροθέῳ τε καὶ Σάββᾳ): Acta S. Macarii 16, p. 162, line 4.
