Diogenes 1 was tourmarches of the Anatolikoi in September 788, when he was killed in the battle of Kopidnados; he is described as capable (Διογένες, ὁ τῶν ἀνατολικῶν τουρμαρ́χης ἱκανός): Theoph. AM 6281. For Kopidnados, cf. Ramsay, Historical Geography, p. 356 (perhaps Apadna, in Isauria).
