Textual SourcesCommemoratio eorum quae saeviter et sine Dei respectu acta sunt ... in Martinum papam..., attributed to Theodoros Spoudaios, PL 127. 591-600 = PL 87. 111-120 (history);
Relatio Motionis Factae inter Domnum Abbatem Maximum et Socium eius atque Principes in Secretario, PG 99. 109-130 (theology)

During the interrogation of Maximos 10 (Maximus the Confessor) in the sekreton of the palace (at Constantinople) in 652/653, when the discussion turned to the Council of Rome (the Lateran Council of 649), Demosthenes 1 called out that the Council had not been confirmed because the person who summoned it (Martinos 6) had been deposed; Maximos 10 replied that the pope had not been canonically expelled and was rather the victim of persecution: Relatio Motionis XIV, 128 (κράζει ὁ Δημοσθένης).

In 653, after the death of the patriarch, Paulos 2, Demosthenes 1 subjected pope Martin (Martinos 6), to further questioning: Commemoratio 596A-598B.
