Damianos 16 was a xenodochos; addressee of three letters from the patriarch Photius (Photios 1), written probably between 859 and 867: Photius, Ep. 109 (I 149 Laourdas-Westerink), Ep. 113 (I 154f. Laourdas-Westerink), Ep. 195 (II 94f. Laourdas-Westerink) (all addressed Δαμιανῷ ξενοδόχῳ). He was told by Photios 1 to restore a piece of land which he had stolen from a poor man (Anonymus 600): Photius, Epp. 109, 113. Photios also told him not to exact a punishment which was greater than the offence: Photius, Ep. 195.
