Damianos 4 was bishop of Mitylene in Lesbos; in 787 he attended the Second Council of Nikaia (the Seventh Ecumenical Council) and is attested at the seventh session only, on 13 October 787; in the list of those present at this session he is styled Δαμιανοῦ ἐπισκόπου Μιτυλήνης: Mansi XIII 368. Elsewhere he is styled Δαμιανὸς ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος Μιτυλήνης: Mansi XIII 385. In the list of names from the fourth session of those who subscribed the statements read out from the Fathers in support of the veneration of icons there is a lacuna at the point in the text where the name of Damianos should have appeared, with the bishops of Kamoulianai, Kiskissos and Mastaura (Georgios 55, Soterichos 1 and Konstantinos 38). It is not certain that he attended this session and that his name is among those lost, but it is possible, given the general state of the text. At the seventh session he subscribed the statement of the faith adopted by the Council: Mansi XIII 385.
