Christophoros 53 was a native of Bari in Apulia; he succeeded Agatho 2 as patriarch of Grado and remained in office for thirty five years; he was succeeded by Donatos 11: Chron. Alt., p. 124 ("huic successit Christoforus, qui fuit nacione Pulie Varis civitatis; qui vixit in patriarchatu ann. XXXV"), cf. John the Deacon, Cron. Ven., p. 89. He died in 717 and was succeeded by Donatus (Donatos 11): John the Deacon, op. cit., p. 92 ("anno Incarnationis Domini DCCXVII"), Chron. de Sing. Pat., p. 11.
