Christophoros 48 was a protospatharios and protasekretis; addressee of two letters from the patriarch Photius (Photios 1), both on theological matters: Photius, Ep. 129 (I 168f. Laourdas-Westerink), Ep. 187 (II 77ff. Laourdas-Westerink) (both addressed Χριστοφόρῳ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ πρωτασηκρῆτις). The dates are uncertain. According to a marginal note in one manuscript (MS Δ, Cod. Paris. Coisl. gr. 270) a copy of Ep. 187 was also sent to Chrysocheir 1.
