Christodoulos 2 was an asekretis; once when drunk he made statements which were offensive to either the emperor (Michael III, i.e. Michael 11) or to the kaisar Bardas 5; for this he received a flogging before fleeing for refuge to a church; the patriarch Photius (Photios 1) wrote a letter on his behalf to Bardas 5 pleading that he be forgiven and suffer no further punishment: Photius, Ep. 4 (I 57 Laourdas-Westerink) (to Bardas, πρεσβεία ὑπὲρ Χριστοδούλου ἀσηκρῆτις κινδυνεύσαντος).
