Chasanios 1 was a protospatharios; owner of a seal of uncertain date, possibly ninth or tenth century: Konstantopoulos, JIAN 9, 518b. The name and title read: Χασανίῳ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ. Perhaps the name was formed from the Arabic "Hassan".
