Bonifatios 4 was a secundicerius (of the papal notaries) at Rome; he was in the retinue of pope Stephen III (II) (Stephanos 8) when Stephanos 8 set out from Ticinum for Francia on 15 November 753 (Bonifatios 4 had presumably accompanied the papal party from the start of the journey at Rome on 14 October): Lib. Pont. 94. 23 ("Bonifacium secundicerium").
