Biator 1 was bishop of Ortona; he attended all five sessions of the Lateran Council, from 5 October to 31 October 649, and in the list of bishops present is named in thirteenth place: Conc. Lat., p. 2, line 21 (Βιάτορος ἐπισκόπου Ὀρτῶνος), p. 3, line 21 ("Viatore Hortonense episcopo") (the first session), cf. pp. 31, 111, 177 and 247 (the Latin version only is repeated for the other sessions). Biator 1 subscribed the definition of the faith agreed by the Council at its fifth session: Conc. Lat., p. 392, line 13 (Βίκτωρ ἐπίσκοπος Ὀρτῶνος), p. 393, line 13 ("Viator episcopus sanctae Hortonensis ecclesiae").
