Beniamin 1 was a military officer, acquainted with Peter of Atroa (Petros 34) (ἄλλος δέ τις, Βενιαμὶν καλούμενος, γνώριμος ὑπάρχων τῷ πανοσίῳ πατρί, στρατιωτικὴν ἐμπεπιστευμένος ἀρχήν); captured by the Arabs during a skirmish and led off to captivity, he escaped after praying for Petros 34's help and returned home safely: Vita Petr. Atr. 39, p. 153. The event is narrated during events from the reign of the emperor Michael II (Michael 10). In the title of the paragraph as preserved in the Vita Petr. Atr. Retractata Beniamin 1 is described as a domestikos: Vita Petr. Atr. Beniamin 1 was the father of Konstantinos 103 (scholarios): Vita Petr. Atr. 111 (= Vita Petr. Atr.
