Benenatos 1 was bishop of Asti (Hasta, in the Alpes Cottiae); he was one of the hundred and twenty-five Western bishops who attended the Council of Rome at Easter 680, and who subscribed the decree condemning monotheletism: Riedinger, p. 150, lines 12-13 (= Mansi XI 307-308) (Βενενάτος ἐπίσκοπος τῆς ἁγίας ἐκκλησίας Ἀρτενσοῦ; the old Latin version printed in Riedinger calls his see "sanctae ecclesiae Astensis").
