Basilios 34 was a hypatos and protonotarios of the Strymon; owner of a seal dateable to the early or mid ninth century (see below): DOSeals I 37.2 = Zacos and Veglery 1772. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - ς. - δου - λω in the corners. The reverse reads: Βασιλείῳ ὑπ[άτῳ] καὶ πρωτονοτ[αρίῳ] τοῦ Στρωμ[όνοσ]. Nesbitt and Oikonomides date this before the middle of the ninth century because of the form of the beta and the presence of a wreath border; see DOSeals I, p. 105, note.
