Basilios 11 was the son of Bardas 7; he had the title of rektor: Theod. Mel. 175, Georg. Mon. Cont. 837 (both read: Βάρδας ὁ πατὴρ Βασιλείου τοῦ ῥαίκτορος), cf. Leo Gramm. 251 (Βάρδας ὁ πατὴρ Βασιλείου). Bardas 7 was a brother of Basilios 7 (the emperor Basil I); Basilios 11 was therefore the emperor's nephew.
