Bardas 23 was a basilikos spatharios and tourmarches of Dazemon; owner of a seal dateable between the mid eighth century and the mid ninth: Zacos and Veglery 1762A. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Κύριε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Βαρδα - β' σπαθαρ. - τουρμαρ. - ου Δαζ. - μονος. The name and titles read: Βάρδὰ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ και τουρμάρχῃ τοῦ Δαζημόνος. Dazemon was the site of a fortified camp in Pontos; see ODB I 592.
