Bardas 9 was a basilikos protospatharios and strategos of Sicily; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: DOSeals I 5.8 = Zacos and Veglery 1754a. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Βαρδα - β' α' σπαθ - και στρατ[η] - γ' Σικ[ελ] - [ιασ]. The name and titles read: Βάρδᾳ βασιλικῷ πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ Σικελίας. A second (identical) specimen, from the same boulloterion, is published in Zacos and Veglery 1754b.
