Bambaloudes 1 was a runner for the Green faction during the reign of the emperor Michael III (Michael 11); he once missed pre-race trials because detained by Petronas 5 (apparently his patron), but was allowed to compete (in the fourth race on the Day of the Vow) and won: Const. Porph., Cer. I 71 (Reiske, p. 358; Vogt 80, p. 158).
