Baanes 8 was a basilikos protospatharios and strategos of the Thrakesianoi; owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the ninth century: Zacos, Seals II 1089. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Βαανη - β(ασιλικῷ) (πρωτο)σπαθαρ(ίῳ) - (καὶ) στρατ(ηγῷ) τ(ῶν) Θ - ρακησια(νων). See also Baanes 9.
