Athanasios 6 was bishop of Naples (Neapolis); owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Laurent, Corpus V 1, 919 (from Kirsch, Ein Altes Bleisiegel, p. 119, citing cod. Vatic. gr. 9071, p. 181, n. 6). Obv.: unrecorded iconographic motif. Rev.: +Ath - anasiu - s episc(opus) - Neap(oleos). Laurent dates the piece to the eighth or ninth century, but notes three bishops called Athanasius at Naples attested in 872, 902 and 962. See P. B. Gams, Series Episcoporum Ecclesiae Catholicae (Graz, 1957), p. 904. Cf. Athanasios 7.
