Artabasdos 12 was a basilikos protospatharios and komes of the Opsikion; owner of a seal dateable between the mid eighth century and the mid ninth, possibly in the middle or later eighth: Zacos and Veglery 3079 (mid eighth to mid ninth). Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with .ω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Αρτα.α. - δω βα' σπαθ - και κομ' του - Οψικιου. Zacos and Veglery read the name and titles as: Ἀρταυάσδῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ κόμητι τοῦ Ὀψικίου. Sokolova suggested a date in the mid eighth century, while Seibt preferred the later eighth century; see Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, p. 74. The reading of the name is uncertain, according to Seibt (in Winkelmann, loc. cit.), and he also proposed that the first title be read as basilikos protospatharios.
