Antonios 23 was a monk and metropolitan bishop of Sardis; owner of a seal dateable to the mid ninth century: DOSeals III 32.4 = Zacos and Veglery 1327 (early ninth century), cf. Laurent, Corpus V, Addenda, p. 455, no. 365bis (dating the seal after 912). Obv.: Virgin Hodeghetria, holding Child, with cruciform monograms of Θεοτόκε on left and βοήθει on right. Rev.: + Αντω - νιω μοναχ' - και μητροπολ' - Σαρδις. The name and titles read: Ἀντωνίῳ μοναχῷ καὶ μητροπολίτῃ Σάρδης.
