Anonymus 748 was bishop of Taïon; he was the addressee of a letter from Ignatius the Deacon (Ignatios 9), then bishop of Nikaia; he had met Ignatios 9 in Nikaia (ἐν τῇ πανευδαίμονι καὶ βασιλίδι πόλει; here clearly a reference to Ignatios 9's own see of Nikaia, cf. Ignatius Diac., Ep. 11, lines 5-6) and been instructed to return to the church (of Nikaia) sacred vessels loaned to him for use in his own, newly created, church by the former metropolitan bishop (of Nikaia); he had failed to return them before and was sent this letter of reminder from Ignatios 9 telling him to bring them back himself; he was also told to pay a sum of money which he had agreed to pay on his ordination; he is styled ἡ ὁσιότης σου or similar: Ignatius Diac., Ep. 10 (addressed τῷ ἐπισκόπῳ τοῦ Ταΐου). On his see (Taïon = Tottaïon), see Mango, Ignatios, pp. 171-172, and for its restoration, cf. Ignatius Diac., Ep. 17 (where the new bishop alluded to in lines 25-26 is probably this man).
