Anonymus 687 was a spatharios (possibly protospatharios) and strategos of Cherson; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century: Laurent, Orghidan 203. Obv.: bust of saint Stephen, with part of a legend reading: +αγιε Στ.... Rev.: ... - ..... - ..σπαθ. - ..ω και στρ - τηγο Χερ - .... The owner's titles perhaps read: πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ Χερσόνος. The use of an image of St Stephen suggests that the owner of the seal was also called Stephanos.
