Anonymus 644 was a basilikos spatharios and strategos of Hellas; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth or ninth century: DOSeals II 8.57. Obv.: cruciform monogram of uncertain type, with the surviving letters δου-λ. in the lower corners. Rev.: ω β' ς - αθ' και στ - τ' Ελλ - δος. The name and titles read: ...ῳ β[ασιλικῷ] σ[π]αθ[αρίῳ] καὶ στ[ρα]τ[ηγῷ] Ἑλλ[ά]δος. This seal has an eight-rayed star in each quarter on the obverse; according to the editors of DOSeals, two other seals, DOSeals II 8.58 and 8.59, have pellets instead of stars but are otherwise exact copies, by inferior craftsmen, from different boulloteria, and therefore belonged to the same individual.
