Anonymus 612 was a friend of Tarasios 5, the brother of the patriarch Photios 1, and an acquaintance of Photios 1 himself; Anonymus 612 is mentioned on the occasion of his death in a letter from Photios 1 to Tarasios 5 (τέθνηκεν ὁ φίλος τῷ σώματι): Photius, Ep. 131 (I 169 Laourdas-Westerink). The date is between c. 850 and c. 880.
