A friend of the patriarch Photius (Photios 1), Anonymus 606 had incurred a debt because of an offence he had committed; in a letter to Marianos 4 Photios 1 interceded for Anonymus 606 and asked Marianos 4 to settle the debt; Marianos 4 did so: Photius, Ep. 189 (II 88 Laourdas-Westerink) ( ὁ δὲ πρὸς ὃν ἡ δίκη φίλος τέ εστιν καὶ πένης).
