Anonymus 599 was a cleric who was ordained priest (ἱερωσύνης ἀξιώματι) by the metropolitan bishop of Nikomedeia, Georgios 223; in 869/870 Anonymus 599 was banished with other Photian clergy and subsequently died in exile of his sufferings and hardships (ἐν διωγμοῖς καὶ θλίψεσι καὶ ταλαιπωρίαις); Anonymus 599 died prematurely, in the prime of life (ἐν ἀκμῇ τῆς ἡλικίας), according to Photios 1, who wrote a letter of condolence about Anonymus 599 to Georgios 223 in c. 872: Photius, Ep. 201 (II 98-101 Laourdas-Westerink) (addressed to Georgios, τελευτήσαντος αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ ὑπερορίᾳ κληρικοῦ μετὰ τὴν γενομένην ἐπ' αὐτὸν τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου χειροτονίαν). Anonymus 599 was presumably a cleric in the see of Nikomedeia, and apparently was born in c. 820/830.
