Anonymus 586 was the son of Pharesmanes 1; he was given by his father as a hostage to the Romans in order to guarantee his own loyalty: Theoph. AM 6209 (τὸ τεκνὸν αὐτοῦ). This occurred during the reign of the emperor Justinian II (Ioustinianos 1). Pharesmanes 1 had been commander of the fort of Sideron in the Caucasus on behalf of the Arabs in 705/711.
