Anonymus 580 is described as a man who enjoyed influence with the emperor; while travelling in the Anatolikon theme (κατὰ γὰρ τὴν λεωφόρον ἐκείνην τῶν περιφανῶν τις καὶ τὰ πρῶτα παρὰ βασίλει ἐχόντων ὁδεύων), Anonymus 580 heard about the condition of Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) and Nikolaos 26, who were suffering from starvation while in prison in Boneta (in c. 818), and was powerful enough (ἅτε παρὰ τῆς ἐξουσίας ἔχων τὸ θάρρειν) to order adequate food to be provided for them: Vita C Theod. Stud. §49, pp. 287-288.
