Anonymus 573 was a cleric, living in Asia, with relatives living near Boneta (in the Anatolikon), where Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) was living in exile (in 817/818); while visiting his relations he paid a visit to Theodoros 15 and was persuaded by him to support the veneration of icons; on his return home he confided this to a close friend, whom he in turn persuaded to support icon veneration; news of this reached their bishop, who informed the local strategos (Orabe 1), and he took the matter up with the emperor and the strategos of the Anatolikoi: Vita A Theod. Stud. 193A-C (κληρικός τις τῶν απ' Ἀσίας); Vita B Theod. Stud. 289D-292B (κληρικός τις τῶν ἐπισήμων ἀπὸ τῆς τῶν Θρᾳκησίων χώρας ὁρμώμενος); Vita C Theod. Stud. §46, pp. 285-286 (κληρικὸς γάρ τις τῶν ἐπιφανῶν, ἀπὸ τῆς Ἀσίας ὁρμώμενος). Anonymus 573 presumably lived in the theme of Thrakesion; cf. Orabe 1.
