Anonymus 557 was the prefect of Thessalonike (ὁ τότε τῆς τῶν ἐνταῦθα ἐπαρχότητος κρατεῖν κελευσθείς); in 675/676 he reported to the emperor (Konstantinos 2) allegations against the Slav king Perboundos 1 (then living in Thessalonike) and on the emperor's orders had him arrested and sent to Constantinople: Mir. Dem. II 4, 231. On the date of these events, see Lemerle, Les plus anciens recueils, II, pp. 128-133.
