Anonymus 494 was a basilikos spatharios and eparch of Thessalonike; owner of a seal dateable between the mid eighth century and the mid ninth; his name is lost but ended with the letters ος: Zacos and Veglery 2651. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with .ω - .ω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: ..... - .ω β' σπα' - και επαρχ' - Θεσσαλο - νικις. The name and titles read: ...ῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ ἐπάρχῳ Θεσσαλονίκης.
