Anonymus 303 was a poor man at Prokonnesos; he gave accommodation to Gregory the Decapolite (Gregorios 79) during Gregorios 79's travels, although it was forbidden (probably by order of the emperor Theophilos 5, whose persecution of iconophiles was in progress); his fortunes immediately changed for the better and he refused to let Gregorios 79 leave to continue his travels, attributing his new prosperity to Gregorios 79's presence: Ignatius, Vita Greg. Dec. 9. The date was probably in 833, soon after the start of the persecution under Theophilos 5.
