Anonymus 287 was bishop of Hydruntum, before whom Gregory the Decapolite (Gregorios 79) was taken to face judgement on charges of betraying Christianity (i.e. because he supported the veneration of icons); because the bishop was an iconoclast (διὰ τὸ τῇ αἱρέσει αὐτὸν προσκεῖσθαι), Gregorios 79 refused to greet him; however when Gregorios 79 protested at being physically maltreated, the bishop intervened to protect him and saved him from danger: Ignatius, Vita Greg. Dec. 13.
