Anonymus 282 was a rustic (ἄγροικος ἄνηρ) who was imprisoned for rebellion (ἐπὶ τυράννιδι) in a tomb on the island of the Apostle Andrew; he was the cell-mate of Methodios 1, who apparently found his company unbearable: Vita Method. 1248C-1249A. Given the dates of Methodios 1 (in custody from 821 to 829) it is probable that this person was one of the supporters of Thomas the Slav (Thomas 7), and presumably a person of some standing to warrant imprisonment in this way, in spite of the unflattering description of him in the Life of Methodios 1. Nothing further, however, seems to be known about him.
