An epileptic, Anonymus 278 had his mouth distorted by the disease and could not speak properly (δεινῶς ἐξανέστραπτο μὲν τὸ στόμα, παρῄρητό δὲ καὶ τοῦ κατὰ φύσιν φθέγματος τὴν φωνήν); Anonymus 278 called on the aid of the late patriarch Ignatios 1, who appeared to him in a dream; on waking Anonymus 278 found himself completely cured: Nicetas, Vita Ignatii 561A-B. Ignatios 1 died in 877.
