A victim of severe dysentery, Anonymus 277 was on the point of death (νόσῳ κοιλιακῇ περιπεσὼν καὶ πρὸς ταῖς ἐσχάταις ἠγγικὼς δι' αὐτὴν ὥραις) when, abandoning hope in the doctors, he prayed to the late patriarch Ignatios 1; the patriarch appeared to him in a dream, and he immediately began to make a full recovery: Nicetas, Vita Ignatii 561B-C.
