Early in the reign of Michael II (Michael 10) Anonymus 275 was sent to the emperor Michael 10 by Nikephoros 2 (the exiled patriarch of Constantinople) and the metropolitan bishops to negotiate better treatment for the opponents of iconoclasm; he was a person in authority chosen to act as mediator (τῶν ἐν τέλει τινι μεσίτῃ χρησάμενοι): Vita Nic. Stud. 892A.
