Anonymus 271 was one of the servants (ὑπηρέτης) under the emperor Leo V (Leo 15); he was sent by Leo 15 to Lesbos in order to take action against Symeon 13 (the Stylite) and he had a fire laid underneath Symeon 13's column; after his return to Constantinople, he fell ill: Acta Davidis, Symeonis et Georgii 15 (227, 25ff), 16 (229, 2. 27-230, 1).
