Anonymus 261 was one of the crowd which dragged the corpse of Stephen the Younger (Stephanos 2) through the streets of Constantinople; he struck Stephanos 2's head with a great stone and split it open: Vita Steph. Iun. 170.15 (1176D). The date was 28 November 764 or 765 (or possibly 767).
