One of the attendants on Constantine V (Konstantinos 7), Anonymus 260 was a fellow iconoclast of the emperor (εἷς δέ τις τῶν αὐτοῦ συμμυστῶν); he encouraged the emperor to act against iconophiles and reported to him on the very day it happened that he had seen Stephen the Younger (Stephanos 2) on his way to execution: Vita Steph. Iun. 166.22-27 (1172B-C). The date was shortly before the death of Stephanos 2; probably November 28, 764 or 765 (possibly 767).
