Anonymus 251 was a hegoumenos of the monastery near the sea at Chrysopolis (ὁ τοῦ μοναστηρίου ἡγούμενος) where Stephen the Younger (Stephanos 2) was detained for a few days (in c. 762); during that time Anonymus 251 fell gravely ill with fever and asked for help from Stephanos 2; Anonymus 251 recovered after Stephanos 2's intervention and was asked by Stephanos 2, if he ever visited Mt Auxentius, to erect a memorial to him there (μνείαν ποιοῦ): Vita Steph. Iun. 146.15-147.6 (1145B-D). The monastery was that of Philippikos at Chrysopolis; see Vita Steph. Iun. 141.23-26 (1140A-B).
